When excavating tunnels in complex geological conditions, particularly with drill-and-blast methods, regular mapping of successive tunnel faces is essential to understand ground structure and manage risk.

We have developed a fully digital tunnel face mapping solution based on high-resolution photogrammetry, called Pika™.

The system is delivered as a complete, end-to-end package, enabling you to rapidly create precise 3D models of tunnel faces in just minutes, with no specialist processing required.

All-in-one kit for data acquisition

We provide a comprehensive hardware kit and training so you can take photos yourself.

The characteristics of the kit depend on a combination of the diameter of the tunnel and photogrammetric accuracy you are looking for.

Take & upload photos

Take successive photos following the procedure to ensure necessary overlap of 70% between the photos.

Then directly upload the photos to our beMap platform and the photogrammetry process will automatically start.

Accurate 3D face model

After only a few minutes the system generates a georeferenced, high resolution and accurate 3D model of the tunnel face, ready to analyze.

Comprehensive tool box

beMap includes a tool-box to analyze your model: Distance, angle, strike & dip, comparison, annotations, etc…

Geology mapping

A semi-automatic machine learning module allows for the mapping of the geology of the face. This digital solution is not only more accurate than the traditional approach with pen and paper, but it can also save a lot of time.

Global integration

Additional georeferenced scanning of the tunnel and consolidation with face photogrammetry provides the complete mapping of the structure and its geology.
