The Suburban Rail Loop Project

The Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is a transformative infrastructure project that will shape the future of Melbourne and Victoria. As the largest infrastructure project in the southern hemisphere and the biggest investment in Victorian history, the SRL is designed to ensure that Melbourne remains one of the world’s most livable cities.
The project aims to improve Victoria’s public transport system by creating an underground rail link, which will traverse suburbs 15–25 kilometres from the Central Business District (CBD) along an approximately 90 km route. It will span from the Frankston line to the Werribee line, including Melbourne Airport, and provide convenient travel between suburbs.

Beyond Monitoring: SaaS

The SRL project involves multiple contractors responsible for installing instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) equipment. To streamline the management of monitoring data, these contractors sought a project-wide solution known as MIMS (Monitoring and Information Management System). Sixense was contracted to provide this system, which offers efficient access to monitoring information, enhancing coordination and collaboration among the contractors on a unified platform for all construction packages.
This project marks the inaugural deployment of Beyond Monitoring platform as a Software as a Service (SaaS) for MIMS. Sixense offers support services, while the client has the flexibility to either utilise Beyond Monitoring independently or to provide it directly to its contractors.

What we’ve delivered

The web-based Beyond Monitoring platform serves as a central information and decision support tool for the project, managing and presenting all monitoring data. It adheres to all SRLA data security requirements and cyber security checklists, ensuring a reliable service with high system availability. Beyond Monitoring’s versatility enables effective management of various types of data, including real-time monitoring and maintaining data quality. It is an ideal solution for large-scale projects like the SRL project, where multiple types of sensors and a large volume of data are integrated for analysis. The platform is equipped with intelligent automated processes and robust customization capabilities to effectively address the diverse needs of the client.
